Description
The European Cluster Collaboration Platform, in collaboration with the Government of Aragón, organises the next edition of the Cluster Collaboration Labs (C2Lab) in Zaragoza, Spain, on 19-20 March 2025.
C2Lab is a workshop-style event where you will have the opportunity to meet new partners, discuss your project ideas, and initiate collaboration – for example, to apply together for a European call. Participants could either join with a concrete project proposal or offer their expertise and knowledge by joining others.
C2Lab Zaragoza will unfold alongside The Wave 2025, Aragón's premier digital technology showcase, which captivated over 2,500 participants in its past edition. This unique synergy allows C2Lab attendees not only to engage in collaborative project development but also to immerse themselves in the cutting-edge innovations featured at The Wave. All C2Lab participants will enjoy full access to this flagship event, amplifying opportunities for networking, inspiration, and exploring transformative digital solutions.
Who can attend?
The C2Lab is for companies, cluster organisations, research organisations, actors from the civil society, and other interested entities who want to join European project consortia. It is open to participants from the European Union and the SMP/COSME countries.
What are the topics of the C2Lab?
As a starting point for the joint project creation, we have defined the following challenges:
- AI for Net Zero Technologies: Leveraging AI to drive sustainability and meet the EU green objectives. Development and integration of Net Zero technologies, renewable energies.
- AI for Industrial Transformation and Competitiveness: Enhancing production efficiency and supply chain optimisation through AI in manufacturing processes.
- AI for Healthcare Innovation: Improving diagnostics, personalised treatments, and healthcare delivery while ensuring privacy, security, and ethical compliance.
- AI for Dual Use Technologies: AI innovations that serve both civilian and defence purposes, ensuring ethical, secure, and sustainable applications.
- AI for Smart Cities: Addressing local challenges through AI, such as urban planning, mobility, and smart cities.
- Collaborative AI Infrastructure: Building shared platforms and resources to foster innovation and cluster collaboration.
- AI for Crisis Management: Developing AI solutions for anticipating and responding to crises like natural disasters and pandemics.
- Your own project idea: You bring and present my own project.
Each participant chose one of these challenges to work on with their fellow peers during the C2Lab.
How does the C2Lab work?
The C2Lab is a co-creation space and counts on your active participation. The aim is to mature project ideas for the indicated challenges in discussions with the other participants and build a proposal together. The work initiated at the C2Lab should be further implemented after the lab itself. For the work at the lab, we will provide you with a project canvas and facilitators to help and guide the process.
- Register, choose a challenge, and set up your profile
When registering for the event on the B2Match platform, participants will choose a challenge they want to work on. Alternatively, they will have the option to present their own project idea and pitch it to the other participants.
- Share your offers in the marketplace
Participants will indicate what kind of ideas and capabilities they can offer for new projects and what kind of projects they are looking for. These will be published in the marketplace where all participants will be able to browse what the others bring to the table.
- Request meetings (“Long Term Matchmaking”)
Attendees will invite other participants to preparatory meetings to speak about collaboration opportunities, which will be further explored at the C2Lab. These meetings will take place online on the B2Match platform between registration and the in-person workshop.
- Join the online pitching session
An online pitching session will be held where participants will introduce themselves personally to the other participants. This will be an additional opportunity to meet prospective project partners.
- In-person C2Lab
Participants will meet in Zaragoza on 19-20 March 2025. Based on challenge selection, participants will join the respective working group to initiate their project ideas with peers. Each working group will be guided by a facilitator. Within the groups, participants will develop their project proposals by discussing the main elements of every project:
- Common goals
- Objectives and scope of the project
- Target groups
- Activities, deliverables and milestones
- Risks and assumptions
The goal will be to have a project roadmap at the end of the C2Lab that the teams will be able to further implement and bring to a public call or alternative funding opportunities. At the end of the discussions, next steps for collaboration will be defined.
